After 25 years of working in building and construction we have developed what we believe to be the best system for delivering value and quality to our customers. 

  • We are a transparent company - We are up front with pur pricing, costs, and can explain how we determine budgets for a project. We are never afraid to sit down and explain in black and white how we derive the numbers for your project.
     
  • We leverage our partners expertise - By carefully selecting our team, MTAC has the ability and skill set to provide a large scope of tasks in house.  Combining our team with the best subcontators in the area give us the fusion of skills that enable MTAC to offer a turn-key solution to any project.  Whether its general construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, and or cabinetry, MTAC has the team in place to match the task.
     
  • We understand and document your goals - Developing a realistic and thorough understanding of our customers expectations and goals is always our first step. This is the foundation on which we build a successful, quality project.
     
  • We form long-lasting partnerships with our contractors and suppliers - We have built a long-term relationsip with our partners and suppliers so that they know what we are trying to deliver to our customers. In a sense, we have extended our values and quality control by working with contractors and suppliers who share our concern for our customers.
     
  • We focus on delivery - Construction can be a complicated process and requires an extrodinary amount of coordination and communication to and between all of the contractors and suppliers. We work at the interface between all the trades and also with our customers. We safeguard your vision for the final product and make sure that all of your contractors are working towards that end. We problem solve issues and make the changes needed to give you the final product you want.
     
  • We finish the project - Our skilled carpenters will do much of the final work like the trim carpentry. We provide the final quality control and take care of the last details and fixes that inevitably crop up.

STEVE BENNETT
OWNER

Company owner and local to the area, Steve established more than a carpenter inc in 2005 with a strong foundation in ethics, efficiency, and Craftsmanship.  Steve earned a bachelors degree in forestry, specializing in Wood Products from NC State University, and started his career in the cabinet industry with over 10 years as a cabinet builder and installer.  He provides the company with years of practical industry knowledge as well as an ability to troubleshoot and find solutions.  Steve enjoys his work, but would rather be spending time with his wife and daughter, riding his bike, being active with activities and service at church, or simply enjoying the great outdoors.

BRAD WELCH
ESTIMATION AND NEW CONSTRUCTION MANAGER

Native to the region, Brad possesses a MBA and Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Nebraska, and an Associate of the Arts degree.  With a background in commercial real-estate development, business management, marketing, metal working, HVAC, and electrical, Brad provides the team with sound business principles as well as a working knowledge of the construction industry.  When not working, Brad would rather be mountain biking, adventure racing, and camping.

LARRY SCHMOLL
MASTER CARPENTER - PROJECT LEAD 008

Born in Ohio and growing up in Rochester New York gives Larry a great blend of Midwestern genuineness and Northern work ethic.  Beginning his  career in accounting, Larry quickly recognised his love for building and switched gears with a degree in construction from Alfred State College in Up State New York.  During his tenure, Larry has accumulated a great deal of knowledge in all facets of the building trades.  Ranging from concrete and block to framing and siding.  Larry moved to our area 23 years ago continuing a successful siding and repair business as he had in New York.  With his vast knowledge, high moral values, and great character, Larry became a natural fit for the More Than a Carpenter Team.  When not at work, Larry would rather be cooking, shooting, and working with children through Child Evangelism Fellowship.

MARILYN BENNETT
FINANCE

While the rest of the team is out swinging hammers and making your building plans come to reality, Marilyn is at the office doing the hard work of making sure all our billing and paperwork is in order.  Marilyn has a background in the sciences, and a head for numbers.  She handles all the job tracking (crew hours,purchases,and subcontractors per project), produces all our payroll, pays our subcontractor, keeps all our insurance current, handles all the taxes, does our invoicing, and more.  She is truly the glue that holds the business of MTAC together.  When she is not working hard on our behalf, Marilyn invests much of her time volunteering at school and church.  When she does have free time, she enjoys being outside, gardening, and playing golf and basketball.
